Privacy Policy

In short

Minibooks Expense is a simple income and expense tracker, made by Exabyte Software Solutions ("we"). It works fully on your phone with no account. Only if you choose to sign in with Google are your records sent to our server, to back them up and bring them back on another phone. The app contains no advertising and no analytics, tracking or crash-reporting code, never reads your contacts or location, and we do not sell your data.

Minibooks Expense is not a bank or a lender. It does not lend or move money and does not connect to banks or payment services; it only keeps your own records.

On your phone

The app keeps these in its private storage on your phone:

• Your accounts (cash, bank, mobile wallets and so on): the name, icon, currency and opening balance of each.
• Your categories: the expense and income categories, with the name, icon and colour of each you add.
• Your entries and transfers: for each, the amount, the date, the account, the category and an optional note; for a transfer, the two accounts and the amounts sent and received.
• Your settings: language, theme, icon layout, and the hide-amounts and lock choices.

Android's own backup may copy your records and settings to your Google account, as it does for other apps, if backup is on for your phone. That copy is made and kept by Google under your account; we cannot see it. Your sign-in, if any, is never included.

If you sign in with Google

From your Google account we receive and store your name, email address and profile photo link, and a Google account ID used to recognise you next time. We never see your Google password.

Your accounts, categories, entries and transfers, exactly as listed above, are then sent to our server and kept in step with every phone you sign in on, in the background. A record you delete is marked as deleted there, so your other phones remove it too; it is removed for good when you delete your account. We also keep a record of each signed-in session (stored only in a scrambled form that cannot be used to sign in), which lapses after 180 days without use.

Signing out keeps your records in your account. You choose whether a copy stays on the phone.

Only when you choose to send it

• Feedbackyou write in Settings › Send feedback, with the app version, your phone's model and its Android version. If you are signed in it is linked to your account; if not, it is sent without any name or email.
• CSV exports and backup files are made on your phone and go only where you send or save them. None of them passes through our server.

What we never collect

The app does not ask for or read your contacts, phone numbers, location, photos, camera, microphoneor files. It does not connect to your bank or any payment service. The app lock uses your phone's own screen lock, and nothing about it leaves the phone.

Permissions

• Internet: backup and sync, only when you are signed in; feedback.
• Biometrics (fingerprint, face): only if you turn on the app lock, to use your phone's screen lock.
• Network state: so a background backup waits for a connection.

Why we use it

• To back up your records and bring them back on a new phone.
• To keep them the same on every phone you sign in on.
• To find and fix problems, and improve the app, from feedback you send.
• To answer you, if you write to us.

We do not use your data for advertising, sell it, or share it with anyone except the service providers below.

Service providers

These companies process data for us, only to run the app:

• Google — sign-in.
• Vercel — runs our server.
• MongoDB Atlas — our database.

Your data may therefore be processed outside your country. Every connection between the app and our server is encrypted (HTTPS). Our server logs record each request's type, path, result and timing, but not its contents or your IP address.

How long we keep it

Your account and records are kept until you delete your account. Feedback sent while signed in is deleted with the account; feedback sent without an account carries no name or email and is kept to improve the app. Records on your phone stay there until you remove them, uninstall the app or clear its storage.

Deleting your account

In the app, open Settings › Account › Delete account. This immediately deletes your account and everything the server holds about you: your profile, accounts, categories, entries, transfers, sessions and feedback. You choose whether the records stay on the phone. If you no longer have the app, see how to ask us to delete your account.

Your rights

You can see, change and delete every record in the app at any time, export them as CSV or a backup file, and delete your account as above. For anything else, email us from the address you sign in with.

Children

Minibooks Expense is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has signed in, contact us and we will delete the account.

Changes to this policy

If what the app collects or shares changes, we will update this page and the date at the top before that version of the app is released.
