In short

Pop Sums is a maths game for children made by Exabyte Software Solutions. It has no account, no sign-in, no ads and no internet access. We collect no personal information from children or from anyone else. What the game records stays on the device and is never sent to us or to anyone else. We have no server that receives data from it, and it contains no advertising, analytics, tracking or other third-party code.

What the app stores, and where it stays

The following is kept in the app's private storage on the device, so that progress is not lost between games:

  • Finished rounds: when each was played, its level, how many sums were right, wrong or missed, the best streak and the time it took.
  • The sums in each round: the sum, the answer tapped (or none) and how long it took, so the results can show which sums to practise.
  • Settings: language, light or dark appearance, level, theme, speed, sums per round, sound and vibration.

Nothing else is recorded. The app never asks for a name, an age, a photo, an email address or any other personal detail.

Permissions

The app asks for one permission only: vibration, for the little buzz after each answer (it can be turned off in Settings). It cannot use the internet, location, contacts, camera, microphone, files or anything else on the device.

What we collect

Nothing. Without Android's internet permission the app cannot send data to us or to any third party. We do not sell, share or transfer any data, because we never receive it.

The app is excluded from Android's cloud backup, so its data is not copied to a Google account either.

Children

Pop Sums is made for children, and is built to Google Play's Families policy. It collects no personal information from children (or from anyone), shows no ads, has no links out of the app, no in-app purchases, no chat and no way to share anything. A parent can see everything the app keeps on its Progress screen.

Google Play

The app is distributed through Google Play, which handles downloads and updates under Google's own privacy policy. If the device owner has chosen in Android to share usage and diagnostics with app developers, Google may show us anonymous crash reports and install statistics. These do not include anything recorded in the game.

Keeping and deleting data

The data stays on the device until it is deleted. In the app, hold a round on the Progress screen to delete it, or use Settings › Clear progress to remove every round. To delete everything, uninstall the app, or open Android Settings › Apps › Pop Sums › Storage and tap Clear storage. Because we hold no copy, there is nothing to ask us to delete.

Changes to this policy

If the way the app handles data changes, we will update this page and the date at the top before that version of the app is released.
